Founded in 1987

Founded in 1987, the Bow Chasers are Clearwater Yacht Club’s women’s sailing group, affectionately known as _“The Ladies with the Itty-Bitty Boats and the Great Big Parties.”_ While sailing is at the heart of our organization, membership is open to all Clearwater Yacht Club women—whether you sail or simply want to enjoy the camaraderie, activities, and fun.

Social & Community Activities

The Bow Chasers offer pram sailing for all skill levels, from novice to experienced sailors. Our educational program ensures new sailors feel confident before moving on to racing, with training focused on safety and fun. Each Tuesday from October through May, members rig prams at 9:15 a.m. and are on the water by 10:00 a.m., followed by lunch in the Grille Room. Social members are always welcome to watch the races or join for lunch. For details on upcoming races, socials, and special gatherings, members are encouraged to check the Bow Chaser’s Event Calendar.

Community & Racing

We are active participants in the Florida Women’s Sailing Association (FWSA), sailing in interclubs at other FWSA member clubs on the West Coast of Florida. Bow Chasers also volunteer with Clearwater Yacht Club‘s Race Committee, helping run regattas both on land and at sea—including the world class events that have built Clearwater Yacht Club’s reputation.

Social Activities

Beyond sailing, the Bow Chasers host parties, offsite events, and gatherings throughout the year. Many social events include spouses or significant others and are often held in members’ homes, creating a warm and lively community.
