History of Clearwater Yacht Club

Chartered in 1911, Clearwater Yacht Club is anchored in friendship and rich tradition. As one of the original 13 founding members of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs, Clearwater Yacht Club holds a proud place in Florida’s maritime history. The original clubhouse—once a simple structure perched at the end of a long dock—symbolized the quiet charm of early Clearwater, then a small fishing village surrounded by citrus groves and accessible only by boat, sand road, or train. What began as an informal gathering of winter residents has since evolved into a vibrant, year-round institution deeply woven into the fabric of the Clearwater community.

Throughout the years, our mission has been to encourage yachting by the public and to promote and assist in making our members more proficient in seamanship and navigation. Today, we hold true to our mission while taking pride in providing our members with a great atmosphere to enjoy delicious meals and refreshing beverages alongside a variety of social activities to build lasting friendships.
