Seamanship and Navigation

The CYC Yachting Committee is focused on getting sailors and all boaters out on the water to encourage yachting and make CYC members more proficient in seamanship and navigation.

We all take pleasure in belonging to a prestigious Yacht Club. Prestige is measured in many ways, but one of them is successfully hosting major regattas. The Clearwater Yacht Club has a long history of doing just that, and this year is no exception.

F.A.Q.s

CYC has a core group of excellent and experienced race committee members who can organize and run good regattas, and our venue in the Gulf of Mexico is very popular. Every major event host needs power boats for almost every position on the race course – that is boats, drivers, good radio communication, and people who enjoy spending time on the water. Without good powerboat support, we simply can’t run a regatta, let alone a really good one!

If you volunteer your boat and come out on the racecourse, you can count on a good time. An experienced crew will be on the course with you, and afterward we all meet up at the Tiki to relax and trade stories about the day.

New members

Throughout the years, CYC has never lost sight of a fundamental objective enshrined in its by-laws, “the promotion of sailing.” See upcoming regattas this season. Learn more here.

Race Committee

We rely entirely on volunteers to provide race management, both on and off the water, prior to and during the event. Race Management is a team sport, and CYC provides training throughout the year so all members can participate. Race committee training will be held in January 2023, at Clearwater Yacht Club. Stay tuned for specific dates and times. Get in touch with us here.

Group Sailing Adventures

One of the benefits of full membership in CYC is reciprocity with other Yacht Clubs,  and one way to fully enjoy this perk is sailing down the West Coast with a group or just rafting up at a nearby island. Check out Florida Council of Yacht Clubs here.
